Unemployment Insurance and Benefits

Peter B. Maguddayao, Attorney at Law, PLLC represents clients at all level of the administrative process. He is experienced in arguing at administrative hearings to appeal the unemployment benefit awards and denials. If the Employment Security Department or Administrative Law Judge does not rule in your favor, he can also appeal the decision to the Commissioner of the Employment Security Department.

For Employees - Peter represents workers when they are turned down for unemployment insurance or when the former employer is challenging the unemployment claim. Unemployment benefit claims are typically turned down on the grounds that the employee provided insufficient information, was fired for misconduct, or quit without good cause. In representing employees, he will seek to provide the missing information, or refute the employer’s arguments about why you were terminated or resigned.

For Employers – Companies challenge a former employee’s claim for unemployment insurance and benefits in order to lower their experience rating with the Employment Security Department, and ultimately keep costs down. If an employee was fired or discharged for misconduct, or quit without good cause, unemployment benefits should be denied. If your company believes that a former employee’s claim was incorrectly awarded and want to challenge the unemployment claim, contact Peter B. Maguddayao, Attorney at Law, PLLC immediately.
